Ranga Mandira Trust (Regd.) is a not-for-profit organization working mainly in the areas of performing arts, arts education and community bonding through the arts. Its main thrust, is imparting training in Dance (sadir), Music (Vocal and instrumental), folk arts (Devarattam, Gondalam, Oyilattam), Research in performing arts, publications, conducting seminars, producing dance productions etc through the Ranga Mandira School of Performing arts, a well- established and functioning school for over a decade.
Ranga Mandira Academy of World Dance/ Performance and Indic Studies is the academic wing where we offer a platform to engage with the arts, various indological subjects, humanities, helping develop critical thinking, entrepreneurial skills, research potentials and inter disciplinary intersections between these disciplines and communities, on issues of gender, class, economic deprivation, social bonding etc. We focus on intersections between disciplines. The various courses on subaltern dance practices, histories, music pedagogies, arts entrepreneurship, Indological studies such as epigraphy, iconography, gender studies etc will be offered as part-time certificate courses. The tutors who are with us, are the best experts in the field internationally. At the end of a course evaluation, the program offers a University certificate which will be an academic and career enhancement for students.
However, if a student (e.g. an enthusiast) simply wants to learn and interact but not get evaluated and certified, that is made possible too. This apart the courses have many open day classes, workshops etc where the public can have a walk-in on special topics.
We are in partnership with world-class Universities, Academic departments from other institutions and artiste collectives to bring these courses.
Our tutors, not merely teach but impart, participate and inspire to see beyond the discipline, to see post-discipline, inter- discipline and more. This academy will be your answer to seeing the world as a connected globe, acquiring high standards of academic knowledge and vocational skill, finding a career that will keep you inspired, facilitate you to create opportunities for yourself and others in your society and most importantly becoming a citizen of the world with an identity.
